Viva la vida! This is the name of the last work by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, one of the most prominent representatives of Mexican realism and surrealism. Understanding her identity was crucial for her work - it contains 143 paintings, 55 of which are self-portraits. In her work, she connected Aztec Mexican culture with Christianity, as she had European roots in addition to Mexican origin. Her paintings are deliberately naive and full of bright colors in a Mexican folk art style that was close to her. But her work was also accompanied by pain - she overcame polio, however treatment was terminated prematurely by a bus crash, which caused her incredible pain until the end of her life, which ended in 1954 when she was only 47 years old. In her not so long life, however, Frida has influenced not only art but also the feminist movement and the perception of women.
