Movie Review: Ant-Man and the Wasp

20. 07. 2018

Marvel delivers yet another exhilarating movie this year – Ant-Man and the Wasp. Since the slightly depressing experience Avengers: Infinity War offered, we anticipated the new adventures of Ant-Man with particular interest on whether Marvel has decided to utterly crush our hearts and souls this year, or not. We saw the little man and his flying friend already, and our opinionated brains could not withhold from sharing our film verdict.

The storyline follows Ant-Man the last days of house arrest subsequent to the events in Captain America: Civil War. He’s allowed brief visitations by his lovely daughter; yet, palpitates at the possibility of removing the out-of-style ankle bracelet, gaining the ability to leave his house and being the father he strives to be. Respectable goals; however, life does not forget to leave some obstacles in the way before he’s allowed pursue his dream. Adventure calls in the form of Hank and Hope Pym, as they are trying to locate their mother and wife who has been lost in the quantum realm. Naturally, they believe Scott is the only one with the necessary skills to help them find her.

The narrative is light-weight, fun and enjoyable despite the unimaginative and corny villain. No darkness or sad back story overwhelms the storyline, leaving an easy-going film with the sole purpose of being entertaining. Frankly, I’m glad to been given this movie straight after Infinity War which is characterized by a gloomy  plot and distressing end, leaving me miserable and without any joy left in my soul. So, it may be assumed that the reasoning behind Ant-Man and the Wasp was to let the fans appreciate the entertainment, lift spirits and spread positivity along with joy. Nonetheless, the story line was not as rich in impressive and intriguing scenes as Ant-Man’s first movie released in 2015. Yet, it does have an amazing cast, such as Michael Douglas, Lawrence Fishburne, Michelle Pfeiffer and so many more, giving the entire film a boost.

For all Ant-Man fans and Marvel enthusiasts; the official movie poster will be added to our selection in a few days !
